At its core, the system utilizes a precisely calibrated diaphragm that responds to hydrostatic pressure. Once the unit reaches its activation depth, a highly durable, spring-loaded blade is released. This blade instantly severs a specific weak-link section of the Ropes securing the life raft canister. This action frees the life raft´s painter line, allowing the raft to inflate and detach completely from the sinking vessel, preventing it from being pulled underwater.
